Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays to you and yours from The Big Event at Virginia Tech.

TBE and Stop Hunger Now

One of the things I am most excited about this year is the Community Partners Initiative. Working with individual organizations to meet their needs will be able to create some really great partnerships.

We just established our first Community Partner in Stop Hunger Now and it looks like it could be the biggest project we have ever taken on. Their goal is to raise enough money to ship 300,000 dehydrated meals to Haiti and we are going to help them put those meals together. If all goes according to plan upwards of 1,200 Big Event volunteers will package meals during our event in hopes of reaching the 300,000.

I am extremely excited to see where this partnership goes and I can't imagine a better start to our Community Partners Initiative. Make sure to check out Stop Hunger Now's website: www.stophungernow.org

Welcome to the blog!

So the spring semester is on its way and things are really starting to heat up for The Big Event. Things are going to start moving really fast and I can't think of a better way to keep everyone updated than a blog.

We have so much going on this year between the concert, the conference and of course The Big Event itself. I'm confident this will be the the biggest and best event ever! We are working really hard to make changes that will allow us to not only have a greater impact on the community but to let our volunteers have an even better experience.

We will do our best to fill everyone in on all the progress over the next few months. Hopefully we can give you an insight into everything that goes into the planning of such a massive project!

So make sure to check out the site every once and a while and I hope you can get as excited as I am about what we are going to accomplish on April 17th!
