I do The Big Event because it's the most direct and simple way we can live out Ut Prosim. As students here at Tech we are told almost on a daily basis Ut Prosim, Ut Prosim, but The Big Event is an outlet for hokies to actually turn those words and ideas into physical acts.

I do The Big Event to give back. Its all about the community here at Virginia Tech, and what better way to strengthen our ties with our neighbors surrounding campus than to volunteer our time to help them with weekend projects. Even our motto is lived out through The Big Event: Ut Prosim, that I may serve. That's why I do The Big Event.

I love helping others. I think it makes an extremely powerful statement that we are able to get thousands of volunteers together to give up an entire day and go into the community to give back and help others. The Big Event in my opinion, is the perfect way to describe our school motto, Ut Prosim.

One of the reasons I came to VT was because of the sense of community you get when you are in Blacksburg and this is why I do Big Event. The community supports us as a university and a student body so much and The Big Event is our way of saying thank you. Big Event helps foster the connection between the members of the community and university that I feel in love with when I first decided to go to VT.

Since the day I stepped onto campus for the first time as a student during orientation, the residents of Blacksburg have been nothing but kind, welcoming, and gracious to me and the other Tech students. I do The Big Event because even if it is one day out of the year, it is an opportunity to give back to the community and return a little bit of what they have given us.

I do The Big Event to give back to the community that gives us so much throughout the year! It's a great way for students to show support and give thanks to the surrounding areas of Virginia Tech through community service. The Big Event also embraces Tech's motto, Ut Prosim.

I love that Virginia Tech extends it's motto Ut Prosim beyond it's campus, and brings together the local residents and students to participate in a day of giving.

We spend our weekdays studying... Our nights with our friends... Our holidays with our families...And our Saturdays in Lane Stadium... So where is the time allocated to serving the community? Virginia Tech has a unique way of showing its appreciation in a voluntary, selfless, and proud way. This event is the second biggest of its kind and it is a centerpiece of the Virginia Tech experience...That is why I participate in "One Big Day, One Big Thanks".
