The Alumni Big Event
The Big Event is Virginia Tech’s largest community service event and all alumni chapters are invited to participate! On Saturday, April 8th 10,000 students, alumni, and volunteers completed nearly 1,200 projects across the New River Valley! With this year marking the 17th anniversary of The Big Event at Virginia Tech, it is sure to have our largest turnout yet!
Again this year, we are encouraging all alumni chapters to participate in an “extended campus” version of the Big Event on Saturday, April 7th. All chapters that participate will receive official Big Event t-shirts!
There are three easy steps to making this happen:
- Identify a service project in your community for your chapter to participate in on April 7th
- Publicize the event to your local chapter alumni through web, email, Facebook, etc. Also, please send the project information to Katie Marquis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- If you would like to purchase Big Event t-shirts for your chapter, submit your order with this form https://goo.gl/forms/NcyAbIf13HYLwzBq2 by March 15. Email Diana Doan at email@example.com if you have any questions.

Interested in Sponsorship?
Each year, the event costs about $50,000 to host (covering tools, promotional materials, productions, logistical items, t-shirts etc.) and while we have several local and corporate sponsors, we are always looking for additional sponsors.
